Welcome to Sounds New Contemporary Music Festival 2009 |

Polish Connections is the first major celebration of Polish
contemporary music to have taken place in the UK in recent years. The
featured composer is Krzysztof Penderecki who conducts a team of
soloists, Warsaw Boys Choir, Camerata Silesean, Polish Radio Choir
Katowice and the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in his great
St. Luke Passion.
Performers include John Wallace with the Royal Scottish Academy Brass
and members of the Philharmonia Orchestra Brass, Motion Trio, London
Sinfonietta, Rolf Hind, the Grand Prix winner of the 2008 International
Contemporary Chamber Music Competition, Olga Pasiecznik and the
Silesian String Quartet and the Aurora Orchestra. Artists and groups at
Orange Street Music Club include Oren Marshall, Stilton, Syd Arthur and
The Quartet, Thomas Truax, Cibelle and Max Kletzmer Band.
Polish Connections marks the start of the Polish Cultural Season in the
UK and Sounds New is particularly grateful to the Polish Cultural
Institute and Adam Mickiewicz Institute for their immense generosity
and support. The festival will host a wealth of UK premieres as well as
many world premieres.
